Last Day at BrightStart

Today is her last day of school at BrightStart, and it's also Teacher's Day celebration.
Since the teachers had so much praise for the Cranberry Shortcake during the National Day Celebration, we decided to bake them again.

R spent Sunday afternoon painting these lovely pictures with Ai Ai and I made them into these little pretty paper bags to keep the shortcakes. I must say they look really pretty, and the teachers were really pleased with these "designer bags" :)

It's sad that I have to pull Ai Ai out of BrightStart as she is really attached to Teacher May, but I guess we have no choice.
There's also some changes in our lives after last week - we'll be moving out of our estate in Dec.
Instead of starting her at Singapore Montessori in Sep just for 3 mths, I asked the management of BrightStart if they could accomodate Ai Ai in their Tods class till Dec.
When they found out the reason and it is obvious that they only have 3 mths of revenue from me, they didn't waste their time in telling me "No" in my face.
Teachers at BrightStart are really good and patient, but what can I say about this new management except that they do not give a toot about the kids' education?

R named the one on the left "Fishes in the Sea" and
the one on the right "10 Suns at Bxxxxx Lxxx" (our estate name)

Donut Bandit!

Ai Ai woke up this morning and I told her to ask Daddy for donuts for breakfast, since R had driven all the way to United Square to get some of our favourite donuts the night before.
As I was sleeping in Ai Ai's room, I had no idea what went on in our room.
Apparently R had to do some big business :P even before Ai Ai could ask him for the donuts.
So this donut bandit took it upon herself to raid the dining table and had a donut breakfast picnic by herself in the living room :D
Donut bandit was obviously not complaining about the lack of companionship during today's breakfast!

Everything Homemade!

R decided to make a car with Ai Ai out of cardboard today...
I must say I am pretty impressed with it, although I really shouldn't be surprised at his creativity as Mum did lots of homemade toys with him when he was young :)

For lunch, I thought we could do a homemade pizza.
R didn't think this mama could roll out the dough well enough, so he took over the job.

Our homemade pizza - it's yummy, especially the half with pesto sauce!

National Day Celebrations!

Today is the BIG day we've been preparing for!
Just realise we both do not have any red tops, so we went out yesterday to buy ourselves these red tops... hope I didn't look like some big red balloon!

Preparation for National Day Party at school

This morning Ai Ai woke up asking to do painting.

I didn't have the heart to reject her, even though it's a lot of work to clean up for a big fat cat (that was what she called me yesterday).
So we did some water-colour painting, which we made into gift boxes to put our Cranberry Shortcakes for the teachers tomorrow.

These are the Cranberry Shortcakes we made - recipe take from Martha Stewart.
I tried to cut them up into stars, but they simply break and crumble.
In the end, I decided to save the shortcakes by cutting them into neat rectangles.

Muffins which we made in the afternoon
We'll be bringing them for the party tomorrow

These strawberry muffins are better than the previous ones I made.
This batch is made from one-third whole-wheat flour - recipe also from Martha Stewart.
